PeaceMusic is an Erasmus project that will involve Assisi Suono Sacro between 2023 and 2024, aiming to foster a close dialogue and exchange with Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio in the search for a pedagogical and musical approach conducive to the dissemination of values of Humanity and Peace.
The challenges and needs of the PeaceMusic project stem from the idea of experimenting with the “Inspired Musician” method conceived by Assisi Suono Sacro, with the goal of training music students to create and perform music specifically for Peace.
This innovative method, not currently present in music education settings, aims to establish a profound connection between musical practice and a more intimate and spiritual dimension of music-making.
In this regard, engaging with another institution becomes highly important as a testing ground to validate its effectiveness and establish common and shared expansion methods. The method is based on introspection within one’s musical sphere to harmonize the musical production through dialogue, self-acceptance, harmony, and exchange. It is on these considerations that we can speak of music for peace.
Assisi Suono Sacro has chosen to involve Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio in the development of this approach. Music, understood as the art of combining sounds and structuring them into a harmonious and unified whole, proves to be a decisive tool in rediscovering the sense of collectivity in all its facets. In this sense, it allows for a profound reflection on human reality as a whole, becoming an extremely valuable instrument for the realization of crucial objectives, including Peace.
The activities planned within this project encompass two fundamental aspects. The first aspect concerns the teachers who will be called upon to play a dual role. On one hand, they will act as “learners,” delving into the teaching methods of UAX (Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio). On the other hand, they will be tasked with conveying their reflections on Music for Peace to the UAX teachers. As such, they will need to acquire new teaching techniques with the aim of integrating them into the innovative method being developed by Assisi Suono Sacro, known as “The Inspired Musician.” They will receive training and teaching courses to enhance their skills and, in turn, engage in training activities, through which they will present the innovative method of peace education.
As for the students of Assisi Suono Sacro, they will be involved in musical activities and workshops, in which they can actively participate. During both formal and informal learning activities in which they will take part, they will serve as both learners and observers.
